Apple AirPods and AirPods 2 will release updates for your device. For example, Apple released an update for the first generation AirPods the day AirPods 2 was launched. This update included several Bluetooth enhancements and enhancements.
How to update Apple AirPods
Place both of your AirPods inside the box and close the lid.
Connect the AirPods charging box to a power source with the supplied Lightning cable. Or, if your device is the new version and supports wireless charging, place it on the wireless charging stand.
Bring the iPhone or iPad connected to the AirPods near where you charge them, and make sure your iOS device is connected to the Internet.
That’s it! The device will update automatically. You will not need to take any extra action on your device. The update is automatically installed with the charge.
You can easily view the version of AirPods devices you want to make sure they are up to date.
On your iOS device (iPad or iPhone), tap the settings tab.
Select the General section.
The firmware model and other information will be displayed next to it.
